AUTHENTICITY OF HADITH REGARDING DUAA FOR MEMORIZING QURAAN VIA WASEELA OF AMBIYA A.S.


حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَلافُ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرِ بْنُ السَّرْحِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ مُوسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ الْمُفَسِّرُ ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ : وَحَدَّثَنَا مُقَاتِلُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ : مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يُوعِيَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ حِفْظَ الْقُرْآنِ وَحِفْظَ أَصْنَافِ الْعِلْمِ فَلْيَكْتُبْ هَذَا الدُّعَاءَ فِي إِنَاءٍ نَظِيفٍ أَوْ فِي صَحْفَةِ قَوَارِيرَ بِعَسَلٍ وَزَعْفَرَانٍ وَمَاءِ مَطَرٍ وَيَشْرَبُهُ عَلَى الرِّيقِ وَلْيَصُمْ ثَلاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلْيَكُنْ إِفْطَارُهُ عَلَيْهِ فَإِنَّهُ يَحْفَظُهَا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَيَدْعُو بِهِ فِي أَدْبَارِ صَلَوَاتِهِ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنَّكَ مَسْئُولٌ لَمْ يُسْأَلْ مِثْلُكَ وَلا يُسْأَلُ أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِكَ وَنَبِيِّكَ وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلِكَ وَصَفِيِّكَ وَمُوسَى كَلِيمِكَ وَنَجِيِّكَ وَعِيسَى كَلِمَتِكَ وَرُوحِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ بِصُحُفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَتَوْرَاةِ مُوسَى وَزَبُورِ دَاوُدَ وَإِنْجِيلِ عِيسَى وَفُرْقَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِّ وَحْي أَوْحَيْتَهُ وَبِكُلِّ حَقٍّ قَضَيْتَهُ وَبِكُلِّ سَائِلٍ أَعْطَيْتُهُ

It is narrated on the authority of Abdullah Bin Abbas (May Allah Be Pleased With Him) that:Whoever wants to memorize Quran and excel in religious studies, he should write the following Dua in a clean vessel or silver plate with honey, saffron and rain water. Then drink it on an empty stomach for three days. He should also read this Dua after Obligatory prayer. InshaaAllah it will help remember everything (He studies):

“ O Allah! I ask you because there is no one like you who is asked or will be asked. I ask through your Nabi and Rasool (Peace Be Upon Him), through your friend Ibrahim (Peace Be Upon Him), through Moosa (Peace Be Upon Him) whom you talked to, through your Eesa (Jesus) (Peace Be upon Him), And I ask you through the scriptures (Saheefey) of Ibrahim Peace Be Upon Him, Torah (Old Testament) of Moosa Peace Be Upon Him, Zuboor of Dawood Peace Be Upon Him, Enjeel (Bible) of Esa Peace Be Upon Him, Quran of Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him, your every revelation, your power and honor and I ask you through the medium of every questioner whom you have given.

CRITICISM ON CHAINS OF NARRATIONS. :-

A) FIRST NARRATION FROM IBNE ABBAS R.A.

1) MOOSA BIN ABDUL REHMAN SIN’AANI IS DAEEF,MUNKIRUL HADITH,LIAR.

2) IT IS PERMISSIBLE TO SAY YAA MUHAMMAD?

3) THE TAWTHEEQ (VERIFICATION) OF YAZEED BIN UMER BIN ABDUL AZIZ COULD NOT BE FOUND.

A) FIRST NARRATION FROM IBNE ABBAS R.A. :-

1) MOOSA BIN ABDUL REHMAN SIN’AANI IS DAEEF,MUNKIRUL HADITH,LIAR.

This is a fabricated narration. Moosa Bin Abdul Rehman Sin’aani is the one who fabricated this narration.


IMAM IBNE HIBBAN SAID :-

“He is a liar and a wicked person. Fabrication of Ahadith was his hobby. He fabricated a book of Tafseer from the sanad of Ata An Ibne Abaas and attributed it to Imam Ibne Juraij.

IMAM IBNE ADEE SAID :-

“ He is a Mukirul Hadith”

(AL-KAMIL 349/6)

HAFIZ DAHABI SAID :-

“He is severly Daeef (weak).”

(AL-MUGHNI FI DHUA’FAA 6507)

2) IT IS PERMISSIBLE TO SAY YAA MUHAMMAD?

B) SECOND NARRATION FROM ABDULLAH IBNE MASUD. :-

أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْبَاقِي الْبَزَّازُ ، أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْفَقِيهِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُمَرَ السُّكَّرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ حَامِدُ بْنُ بِلالٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبُخَارِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَحْرُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ مُوسَى غُنْجَارٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الصُّبْحُ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الشَّامِيِّ ، وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ السِّنْدِيِّ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ إِلَى الْفُقَهَاءِ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : ” مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُوَعِّيَهُ اللَّهُ حِفْظَ الْقُرْآنِ فَلْيَكْتُبْ هَذَا الدُّعَاءَ فِي إِنَاءٍ نَظِيفٍ بِعَسَلٍ مَاذِيٍّ ، ثُمَّ لِيَغْسِلْهُ بِمَاءِ الْمَطَرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَمَسَّ الأَرْضَ ، فَلْيَشْرَبْهُ عَلَى الرِّيقِ ثَلاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ فَإِنَّهُ يَحَفْظُ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ : اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنَّكَ مَسْئُولٌ لَمْ يُسْأَلْ مِثْلُكَ ، أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِكِ وَنَبِيِّكَ ، وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلِكَ وَصَفِيِّكَ ، وَمُوسَى كَلِيمِكَ ونَجِيِّكَ ، وَعِيسَى كَلِمَتِكَ وَرُوحِكَ ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ بِصُحِفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَتَوْرَاةِ مُوسَى ، وَزَبُورِ دَاوُدَ ، وَإِنْجِيلِ عِيسَى ، وَفُرْقَانِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِّ وَحْي أَوْحَيْتَهُ ، وَكُلِّ حَقٍّ قَضَيْتَهُ ، وَبِكُلِّ سَائِلٍ أَعْطَيْتَهُ ، وَبِكُلِّ ضَالٍّ هَدَيْتَهُ ، وَغِنًى أَفْنَيْتَهُ ، وَفَقَيِرٍ أَغْنَيْتَهُ ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ بِأَسْمَائِكَ الَّتِي دَعَاكَ بِهَا أَوْلِيَاؤُكَ فَاسْتَجَبْتَ لَهُمْ ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ أَنْزَلْتَهُ فِي كِتَابِكَ ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِي أَبَنْتَ بِهِ أَرْزَاقَ الْعِبَادِ ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِي وَضَعْتُهُ عَلَى النَّهَارِ فَاسْتَنَارَ ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِي وَضَعْتَهُ عَلَى اللَّيْلِ فَأَظْلَمَ ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ بَاسْمِكَ الَّذِي وَضَعْتُهُ عَلَى الْجِبَالَ فَرَسَتْ ، وَأَسْأَلَكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِي وَضَعْتَهُ عَلَى الأَرْضِ فَاسْتَقَرَّتْ ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِي اسْتَقَلَّ بِهِ عَرْشُكَ ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الْوَاحِدِ الأَحَدِ ، الصَّمَدِ ، الْفَرْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، الَّذِي مَلا الأَرْكَانَ كُلَّهَا ، الظَّاهِرِ ، الطَّاهِرِ ، الْمُطَهِّرِ ، الْمُبَارَكِ ، الْمُقدسِ ، الْحَيِّ ، الْقَيُّومِ ، نُورِ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ ، عَالِمِ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ ، الْكَبِيرِ الْمُتَعَالِ ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ بِكِتَابِكَ الْمُنَزَّلِ بِالْحَقِّ ، وَنُورِكِ التَّامِّ ، وَبِعَظَمَتِكَ وَبِكِبْرِيَائِكَ ، تَرْزُقنِي حِفْظَ كِتَابِكَ الْقُرْآنِ ، وَحِفْظَ أَصْنَافِ الْعِلْمِ ، وَثَبِّتْهَا فِي قَلْبِي ، وَسَمْعِي ، وَبَصَرِي ، بِخَلْطِهَا بِلَحْمِي وَدَمِّي ، وَتَسْتَعْمِلُ بِهَا جَسَدِي فِي لَيْلِي وَنَهَارِي ، فَإِنَّهُ لا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلا بِكَ

AL MAWDOAAT IBNE JAWZI (HADITH 1591)

This narration has also been reported from Ibne Masood (May Allah Be Pleased With Him).But this narration is also fabricated. A narrator by the name of Umer Bin Sabah is the one who fabricated this narration.


1) UMER BIN SABAH IS DAEEF,MUNKIRUL HADITH,LIAR.

IMAM ABU HATIM RAZI SAID :-

“Matrook-ul-Hadees”

(JARAH WA TA’DEEL IBNE ABEE HATIM 117/6)

IMAM IBNE ADEE SAID :-


“ Matrook-ul-Hadees”.

(AL-KAMIL”24/5)

IBNE HIBBAN SAID :-

This person fabricates ahadith and attributes them to “Thiqah”(Trustworthy) narrators. Only those who are well versed in the science of hadith can write his Hadees and that too by way of Ta’ajub (surprise/strange=تعجب )

(AL-MAJROHEEN: 88/2)

IMAM ABU NAEEM ASBAHANI SAID :-

“ He attributed fabricated ahadith towards Qatadah and Maqatil Bin Hayan.

(MUDAKHAL AL-SAHEEH: 113)

2) SCHOLAR SAYINGS REGARDING THIS NARRATION.

HAFIZ IBNE JAWZI SAID :-

هَذَا حَدِيث موضوع عَلَى رَسُول اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، والمتهم بِهِ عُمَر بْن الصبح

“This hadees is a lie upon the Prophet Peace be Upon him, and the one who fabricated it is Umar Bin Sabah.

(MAWDOAAT 831/3)

HAFIZ SUYOOTI SAID :-

“ This fabricated narration is the fabrication of Umer Bin Sabah”.

(AL MAWDOAAT 298/2)

3) THE TAWTHEEQ (VERIFICATION) OF YAZEED BIN UMER BIN ABDUL AZIZ COULD NOT BE FOUND.

Second reason is that the Tawtheeq (verification) of Yazeed Bin Umer Bin Abdul Aziz could not be found.

C) THIRD NARRATION FROM ABDULLAH IBNE MASUD. :-

This narration has also been narrated from Ibne Masood (May Allah Be Pleased With Him) via another route.

(AL-JAMI’ AKHLAQ RAWI WA ADAB SAMI’ AL-KHATEEB BAGHDADI: 261/2: 1793, AKHBAR-UL-HIFZUL-QURAN IBNE ASAKAR:3)

But its chain is severely weak. One of its narrator is “Moosa Bin Ibrahim Marozee”.


1) MOOSA BIN IBRAHIM MAROZEE IS DAEEF,MUNKIRUL HADITH,LIAR.

IMAM DARUQTANI SAID :-

He is “Matrook”.

(TAREEKH BAGHDAD KHATEEB BAGHDADI: 40/13, CHAIN HASAN)

IMAM UQAILI SAID :-

“Munkirul Hadees”.

(AL-DHUAFAA’ UL KABEER: 166/4)

HAFIZ DHAHABI SAID :-

“فمن بلا ياه”

Moosa Bin Ibrahim is a fabricator.

(MEEZAN UL ETEDAL: 199/4)

HAFIZ SUYOOTI SAID :-

“ He is a liar”.

(AL-MAWDOAAT 298/2)

D) CONCLUSION. :-

From all the routes above narrations is mawdoo, & it not permissible to call Prophet Muhammed p.b.u.h by his name.

IMAM AHMAD RAZA KHAN BARELVI SAID :-

Even we do not consider it correct to call the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) with his name.
